Keeping Perspective

If you knew you had 100 years on earth and 500 years in paradise; which would you concentrate on building for, the 100 year period or the 500 years? Would you focus on making everything perfect for the 100 or channel most of your energy to prepare for the 500 years? Well, as Christians, we are promised an eternity with our Heavenly Father in heaven, the perfect paradise. It is hard for us to comprehend what eternity means, but this life on earth is just a vapor of time. When we keep our view of life in this perspective our energies will be best used in storing up treasures in heaven, not on earth. When we remember that Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us; a divinely built dwelling place, we can stop concerning ourselves with building the perfect temporary dwelling while here on earth and focus our time on gaining future neighbors.

A farewell

We said good bye to one of our own tonight. Parting with sweet sorrow knowing she is leaving us to step into an exciting journey of embracing the hurting, orphaned souls of Haitian children to bring them the love of their Heavenly Father, letting them know that they have been adopted by a King; King Jesus. Our loss will be their gain. These beautiful children in Haiti are receiving a gift wrapped in love brought “special delivery” from their Heavenly Father that loves all His children so deeply.

God has a special journey, place, calling for each of us. Just remember, that life is a journey not a destination. So embrace the journey of discovering who you can bring life, hope, and love to. Sarah heads off to her new family in Haiti but who is in your sphere of influence that may need to know the love of their Heavenly Father. Perhaps, it will be the single mom across the street, your hair dresser or the grocery clerk. Let’s be mindful of those around us that may need someone to help put a little sass in their step.

P.S. You too can follow Sarah and her family’s journey to Haiti. Meet all 43+ kids that they are embracing as their own. Perhaps, it will inspire you to step out and go for your dreams. http://www.ayitibound.com

Get Inspired

The women in my weekly women’s group inspire me as we walk on this journey of freedom together. I pray that our lives and stories will inspire you to join us on this journey. There is a picture of some of these fabulous ladies under “Daughters of the King” which was taken at our last retreat. We came together for a weekend to fully discover God’s heart for us as His daughters. During one of our prayer times God showed me a vision of myself as a little girl. In the vision I was looking into the face of myself as a child. I asked the Lord what He was saying to me through this vision. He spoke to my spirit saying, “You are free, you are free”. My initial thought was that God was trying to remind me as a child we feel so free- no responsibilities, cares, concerns, or weights and that He wanted me to give everything to Him and be free as a child. This of course is true, but as I looked closer at myself, I realized I was staring at myself before God had healed my legs. I was born with a leg defect that required me to wear leg braces. There was a strap around my waist that held bars that ran down my legs that connected to my shoes and then there were two straps on each bar that held them to my legs. So, in the natural, I was not free at all. I then asked the Lord what He was saying showing me a picture of myself bound but saying I was free. He then spoke to my spirit saying, “No matter what bounds this world puts on you, you are free.” Wow, what an amazing truth He was giving me that has enabled me to see life through a whole new lens. As I look at the women in my group, many of them have had limitations or straps put on them in their natural circumstances, but as daughters of the King they are free. Freedom comes from a place of the heart and mind. Freedom flows from a heart yielded to God and a mind that is renewed by His love. As we view every trial from a place of freedom we will gain God’s perspective and His solution. I pray our stories will put some added sass to your step as you walk out this journey with us because we truly are “Free and Sassy”.

P.S. Sorry, I didn’t mean to leave you hanging. Yes, God did completely heal my legs in one precious moment, right before my parent’s faith filled eyes, but that’s a story for another day.
