For some of us, at times it can be difficult to step out in faith to pray for a friend, co-worker, family member or even ourselves. This is often because in the past we have prayed for someone or something in faith and felt as if God did not hear us or at least He did not answer us. When we cry out to God in a situation, we are usually expecting Him to meet us right there, in that moment, to bring about a change that is visible and apparent to all. Unfortunately it may seem, more times than not, that nothing happens. The enemy likes to use these situations to cause us to doubt that God is still in the miracle working business and even causes us to doubt God’s goodness. I wish I knew why we do not always feel Him meet us right there in that moment as we cry out to Him for a miracle, a healing, an answer. However, I do know that God is always good, always there, and He does hear us and responds, just not always in a way we can understand. There is a whole realm of the spirit where things are happening all around us all the time, we just cannot see it, and that is where faith comes in. For the just shall live by faith. God says that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Therefore God is working in and through our lives to bring about a life of joy, peace and purpose as we rest in Him and trust in Him. We must be content to know that He sees the complete picture when we are only seeing what is in front of us. This walk of faith takes more than just believing, it takes trust and perseverance. I am sure of one thing: the more I step out in faith declaring healing, deliverance, wholeness over those I encounter who are in need, the more of those incredible moments I will experience when God does show up in that very moment to bring about the very thing I am asking for. Nothing can replace the joy of that moment His presence materializes. If I experience it one out of ten prayers or one in fifty or only one in a hundred I am going to continue praying for that one. That’s because if I don’t pray for the one in front of me, I will never have that one moment when the grace and power of God descends down and brings immediate change and/or transformation.
Heavenly Father, I pray for an increase of those moments until those moments become my way of life.
Sometimes, in order to walk in victory, we first have to see ourselves as daughters of a conquering King. The Israelites’ missed out on living in their promised destinies because, they saw themselves as mere grasshoppers. (Numbers 13:33)
Some of us look at the coming New Year with great excitement and anticipation of things to come or perhaps, just looking forward to a fresh start with all our New Year’s resolutions. Others however, look upon the New Year as just seeing another year passing with unfulfilled dreams, setbacks, or disappointments. No matter which category you find yourself in, it is important for all of us to take time, as the previous year has come to an end, to work through some things with God. Look back over all the good things that have happened and say, “Thank you God”, giving Him praise for all His goodness. Make note of the areas that you have experienced improvement in and thank God for His grace that has empowered you. Take some time to assess any areas of your life that you recognize a need to develop, like spending more time with loved ones or taking more time in God’s Word each day. Then ask for the Holy Spirit’s help in walking out those things identified. And finally, take a moment to look at any unresolved disappointment in the year gone by. Do not ignore these things or suppress them but instead, lift them up to the Heavenly Father that truly loves you and cares about every aspect of and hurt in your life and heart. Determine not to carry any unresolved issues from last year into your New Year. Those things we do not lay at the feet of Jesus will only contaminate the newness and anticipation of greater things in 2014. Look at your unfulfilled dreams and ask the Lord for new vision or creative ideas for a re-birth of those dreams or perhaps, He will give you a new one. There is nothing to be gained by giving up, settling in, or succumbing to the oppression that disappointment can bring by not surrendering it all into the hands of a loving God. But, strength, favor, and blessing does come to all who stand firm, press through and hold tight to the promises and plans of God. So declare with me that 2014 will be a year of Great Grace and breakthrough as your hope is renewed in a God that truly sees you and desires for your joy to be fulfilled in Him!
