My Recent Journey

As you have probably noticed I have been missing in action for the last several months. I have been on a personal journey in intimate reflection and pursuit of God.  During this time I have taken a break from teaching and writing as to focus all my attention upon my pursuit. At the beginning of the year my pastor gave a prophetic word that we as believers were to press in to God emphasizing the first few months would be crucial to setting us up for our future. Later, I heard the same word spoken by Chuck Pierce and it was affirmed in my heart to be a word for me. As I write this I cannot believe that was almost a year ago. It is hard to describe what happen within me when I heard that word. At first it gave me a sense of frustration- like what does that mean? How do I press in? How do I set myself up for the best future? Those thoughts caused me to contemplate the many such words I have heard over the years of my life.

The prophetic word sounds so exciting when it is spoken and we say yes that’s right on, I receive that. And then too often, in many cases, time just seems to slip away with no apparent result. Perhaps, we may see something come to pass that resembles the “prophet word” or we say something must have occurred within the spirit realm that we just were not able to see or we explain it away in its delay over time. Then we try to assure ourselves that it will come to pass in the future or worse, we just forget about it all together as if it were never spoken. But, that is not what I want to focus on today.

Once the frustration, questions and yes I must confess- doubt subsided, I set my heart upon fully embracing this prophet word. I determined in my heart and spirit to press in at any cost to fully realize this word and be assured to set myself up for the future God had for me. I had no idea, at the time, what that would encompass and what It would cost me. However, it was abundantly clear to me there would be no turning back and there would be no settling for anything other than the completion of what God wanted to achieve within me to set me up for His purpose.

I have learned many lessons on this journey that I truly feel have changed the way I see the world, religion and the Kingdom. Those lessons are setting me up to walk in the fullness of God’s specific plan for me. I have seen things in myself that I didn’t realize were there, that I have to admit, I didn’t like. I have discovered things I was not viewing from the perspective of God’s Kingdom that had become a hindrance to me. God has also exposed some mindsets that were rooted in religion not love that I most definitely needed to change.

On the brighter side, as declared in Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in my heart by the Holy Spirit who was given to me”. God’s love and peace has renewed my heart and set me on a beautiful path as I embark on another year. I hope to share many of these lessons I have learned in the coming year in hopes that they will encourage and bless you as they have me.

As I now ponder the time of year we are in, celebrating the birth of our Savior, I turn to a favorite passage, Isaiah 9:2-7. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this”.

Let us keep at the fore front of our mind that Jesus came as the light of the world to dispel darkness and now we are to be that light to all those we come in contact with during this Christmas season and into the New Year.

My prayer for each of us this year is that we fully walk in His light, being light, that we may live a life of freedom and love.

Who I Want to Be

How do we define the person we want to be? We accumulate ideas, thoughts, and perceptions as we journey through the ups and downs of this life that help or hinder us from becoming that person. It can be perplexing at times to find that the person we desire to be is often created by the events, if given the option, we would choose to avoid.

I have an ideal that I wish to live in; a vision of which I would like my life to mirror; heroes of whom I would like to be numbered with; and yet, it all just seems to come down to choices. One right choice built upon another. The continued process of putting one foot in front of the other to accomplish one goal at a time. Many times it is just a single choice of choosing to get up after one of many falls or the choice to stand when one feels like falling.

If we could each determine to stand as Jesus did while He was here on earth, we could create a world that our children could also have the choice to stand, live in vision and enjoy the perplexities of a life fully lived.

As we get up each day choosing to live a life that is pleasing to our Creator we become the person He created us to be and thus enjoy a life fully lived.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

How Do You See Yourself?

Your thoughts of self can set the atmosphere around you causing others to see you in the same light. So how you see yourself can affect the atmosphere positively or negatively and in turn this effects how people treat and respond to you. So, if you do not like how others treat you, maybe, you need to take a look out how you view yourself. Positive self-image is just aligning how you view yourself with how God views you. And how does He view you? As a son/daughter worth giving His only son for. He thought you worthy of the life of Jesus and He sees you worthy of His love, favor and blessing. So, any thoughts of self that do not line up with this truth need to be taken captive and lined up with the truth of God’s Word. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, He has a plan to prosper you and give you a bright future, and He loves you with an everlasting love. There are many more truths in God’s Word that describe His thoughts toward you. Take hold of His truths as your truth about self and begin to positively affect the atmosphere all around you bringing others to the truth of who God is and how He sees them. I promise you, taking hold of His view of you will transform every area of your life….. bringing life.
