Eternity

I think the only way to make since of this life and the purpose we all search for is to view life in light of eternity with God. We cannot view our life as the end game but rather a dress rehearsal. Whether we are granted 40, 60, 80 years or more this is all in preparation for eternity. These years we have as individuals on this earth are just a blip in the time line of eternity. However, how we choose to live these years will determine with Whom we will spend eternity with. The enemy works so hard to entangle us in the affairs of this life, consumed with acquiring success, comfort, fortune as if that is the goal of life. We were created in the image of God, given the mind of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to walk in power and authority destroying the works of the enemy just as Jesus came to do. We have been anointed to bring forth the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. What matters in this life is not what we can add to our life in way of success and possessions but what we can add to other’s lives by how we live our life bringing glory to God. Our life is meant to be a sweet smelling aroma to our Lord, being His ambassador on this earth bringing forth His will. Keep your purpose as God’s ambassador on the forefront of your mind as you make your choices and set your priorities. Free will was a gift of God so that we, from a place of love for our Father, could choose to walk as one with Him displaying His glory, bringing light to dispel darkness.

So, when the enemy tries to tempt you with going with the flow of this world system or to accept something in your life that does not honor God, remember what future you are working toward.

True Love

We are told in Matthew 7:12-14 to, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” I think that sometimes in our pursuit to love others we make the mistake of trying to broaden the path to be more accepting and perhaps to include or embrace or encompass more but true love would say, “Hey my friend here is the narrow path, you don’t want to stray off because that broad path that may be enticing you will only lead to destruction”. Sometimes compromise can be the very tool the enemy uses to open the door to deception that leads to destruction. Let’s love one another by encouraging each other to keep our feet on the path that Jesus designed for us so that we are enabled to walk in His fullness and love not the deceptive love of this world that encourages us to do what ever feels good or looks good.

True love does not try to broaden the path but lets you know when you are straying off the chosen path.
Trying to broaden what God calls narrow will only lead to deception.

The Bride

When I think of a bride walking down the aisle to wed the love of her life or the groom standing there waiting for his love to appear adorned in beauty, there is such anticipation in their hearts. No matter what has transpired in their lives leading up to this significant moment, it is now behind them. It is a new day, a start to a new life. The expectation is a life of love, devotion, intimacy, faithfulness and fruitfulness. Sure, there may be ruff days, days you may feel like giving up, but you won’t. You are both committed to walking this journey out together letting nothing come between you. Did you know that God wants to make us His bride? Have you stopped to meditate on this truth? Just imagine a perfect wedding day and it is Jesus at the altar. He is waiting for you to walk down that aisle and receive Him as your savior. Just remember, that He has the same expectation as the bride and groom mentioned earlier. This is the start of a new day. No matter what is in your past, once you repent and accept Him as your savior, you are now His. You begin your life of faithfulness, intimacy, devotion and fruitfulness with Him. Make that step or if you have already walked that aisle, re-new your vows today. Walk out this journey of love with the One who is fully committed to you and wants to give you abundant life as you fully commit and remain faithful to Him.
He is faithful, true and unchanging.

It Is Not Worth It!

I used to think this verse, “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the Kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire” sounded so harsh (Mark 9:47). However, after years of observing the devastation of sin in people’s lives: destroyed marriages, relationships, families, health and all that sin leaves in its wake, I now feel that I can see the heart of Jesus in this verse. It seems to say, “sin is NOT WORTH IT; do whatever it takes to get it out of your life, nothing is too extreme in your pursuit of freedom from sin”. In His great love for us He wants to protect us from the destruction and devastation that sin brings. “For the wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Choose His gift of life. Abundant life is available for us as we choose Him and His way each day for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Let’s say YES to walking with Jesus and determine to partner with Him in eradicating sin from our lives so that we can walk in His fullness. He gives perfect peace, joy unspeakable and full of glory, a sound mind and so much more as we learn to renew our minds to line up with His truth, His way and His life. Don’t settle for what sin is offering you because it is only temporal and in the end can only bring death and separation from God. Have faith in the One who gave His life for you, that He can also empower and enable you to live and walk in victory over sin.

My Recent Journey

As you have probably noticed I have been missing in action for the last several months. I have been on a personal journey in intimate reflection and pursuit of God.  During this time I have taken a break from teaching and writing as to focus all my attention upon my pursuit. At the beginning of the year my pastor gave a prophetic word that we as believers were to press in to God emphasizing the first few months would be crucial to setting us up for our future. Later, I heard the same word spoken by Chuck Pierce and it was affirmed in my heart to be a word for me. As I write this I cannot believe that was almost a year ago. It is hard to describe what happen within me when I heard that word. At first it gave me a sense of frustration- like what does that mean? How do I press in? How do I set myself up for the best future? Those thoughts caused me to contemplate the many such words I have heard over the years of my life.

The prophetic word sounds so exciting when it is spoken and we say yes that’s right on, I receive that. And then too often, in many cases, time just seems to slip away with no apparent result. Perhaps, we may see something come to pass that resembles the “prophet word” or we say something must have occurred within the spirit realm that we just were not able to see or we explain it away in its delay over time. Then we try to assure ourselves that it will come to pass in the future or worse, we just forget about it all together as if it were never spoken. But, that is not what I want to focus on today.

Once the frustration, questions and yes I must confess- doubt subsided, I set my heart upon fully embracing this prophet word. I determined in my heart and spirit to press in at any cost to fully realize this word and be assured to set myself up for the future God had for me. I had no idea, at the time, what that would encompass and what It would cost me. However, it was abundantly clear to me there would be no turning back and there would be no settling for anything other than the completion of what God wanted to achieve within me to set me up for His purpose.

I have learned many lessons on this journey that I truly feel have changed the way I see the world, religion and the Kingdom. Those lessons are setting me up to walk in the fullness of God’s specific plan for me. I have seen things in myself that I didn’t realize were there, that I have to admit, I didn’t like. I have discovered things I was not viewing from the perspective of God’s Kingdom that had become a hindrance to me. God has also exposed some mindsets that were rooted in religion not love that I most definitely needed to change.

On the brighter side, as declared in Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in my heart by the Holy Spirit who was given to me”. God’s love and peace has renewed my heart and set me on a beautiful path as I embark on another year. I hope to share many of these lessons I have learned in the coming year in hopes that they will encourage and bless you as they have me.

As I now ponder the time of year we are in, celebrating the birth of our Savior, I turn to a favorite passage, Isaiah 9:2-7. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this”.

Let us keep at the fore front of our mind that Jesus came as the light of the world to dispel darkness and now we are to be that light to all those we come in contact with during this Christmas season and into the New Year.

My prayer for each of us this year is that we fully walk in His light, being light, that we may live a life of freedom and love.

Your Choice Matters

Most of the ups and downs of life can be summed up in the choices we made. Which voice did we choose to listen to? Did we listen to the voice of peace or anger; negative or positive; life giving or self seeking. Did we choose to forgive or let bitterness settle in? Did we choose to build people up around us or tear them down? There are also other choices like, picking the bible up verses the remote control; choosing to take a risk verses taking the easy course. Did you have a “will see” attitude or did you crush fear under you feet and say YES? Every choice matters. Remember, whatever you feed the most thrives the most so, choose to feed on the things that will produce the results that you are longing for. Choose words of life, choose to have hope, to believe, to love. Choose to stand as the apple of your Father’s eye!

I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
Concerning the works of men,
By the word of Your lips,
I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.
Uphold my steps in Your paths,
That my footsteps may not slip.

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;
Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye;  Psalms 17:4-8

Let Love talk the Loudest

It is important to acknowledge as Christians we should all be desiring the same things: A close intimate walk with God; to fulfill our God given destinies; to live life as Jesus did impacting all those around us for Gods glory. What we can sometimes forget is to give grace to those who maybe get there a little differently than we do or their priorities and focus at one time or another may not pattern ours. Lets determine to focus on who God is wanting to be in and through our own lives and not try to be god in the life of others.

How Do You See Yourself?

Your thoughts of self can set the atmosphere around you causing others to see you in the same light. So how you see yourself can affect the atmosphere positively or negatively and in turn this effects how people treat and respond to you. So, if you do not like how others treat you, maybe, you need to take a look out how you view yourself. Positive self-image is just aligning how you view yourself with how God views you. And how does He view you? As a son/daughter worth giving His only son for. He thought you worthy of the life of Jesus and He sees you worthy of His love, favor and blessing. So, any thoughts of self that do not line up with this truth need to be taken captive and lined up with the truth of God’s Word. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, He has a plan to prosper you and give you a bright future, and He loves you with an everlasting love. There are many more truths in God’s Word that describe His thoughts toward you. Take hold of His truths as your truth about self and begin to positively affect the atmosphere all around you bringing others to the truth of who God is and how He sees them. I promise you, taking hold of His view of you will transform every area of your life….. bringing life.

See scriptures: Psalm 139:14; Jeremiah 29:11; John 3:16; Romans 8:31,39; 2 Thessalonians 2:16; 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 for your encouragement.

The “Voice” of Life

Everything in our lives has a voice and the voices are vying for our attention. Our success greatly depends on which voice we choose to listen to.

Discouragement and Disappointment have a voice, they speak their thoughts to us BUT we can choose to not listen and instead choose to listen to Hope and Faith and Love as found in the Word of God.

The voices translated into our thoughts will either bring life or death to our emotions and future events. Thoughts of hope, faith and love produce energy, life and vision. Listening to the voice of discouragement and disappointment will only cause us to feel weakened, weary and defeated.

So, today choose to agree with the voice of life and silence every voice that is contrary to what God says about you and your situation. For God makes a way where there seems to be no way.

Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Heaven on Earth?

Jesus said to them, “When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. Luke 11:2

Jesus wanted us to pray that His will would be accomplished on earth just as it is in heaven. My first thought is, He wouldn’t ask us to pray that prayer if it wasn’t possible. I don’t know about you, but when I imagine what heaven is like, it does not look like what I am experiencing here on earth. That challenges me to start asking some hard questions. Like, “Why Not?” and, “How can I make that happen?”

I think, first of all, we have to believe that it’s God’s will for us to experience heaven on earth.

Secondly, we have to loose ourselves in Him, recognizing that every true pleasure can only be found in our heavenly Father.

It was only when Adam and Eve looked for pleasures outside of what God offered them, that they lost their heaven on earth.

So, let’s turn our full attention to the things of God and get His plan to bring heaven to earth so that we can truly experience the joy, peace, freedom, wholeness that He designed each one of us to live and walk in.

When we are full of the light of Jesus, we will dispel the darkness in the world around us bringing about true reformation.

Let us take hold of the light of heaven and bring it into our world by letting the light of God invade every part of our being.

God’s love for us is so rich, so deep, and so powerful.

Lord help us to take hold of a love that transcends our human understanding so that through Your love we can fully grasp Your intent for our lives.
